details of Polish villas for sale, Polish holiday rental accommodation and shared housing in
Poland. Poland is situated in Europe bordered all around except to the
North where it borders the baltic sea. It is a relatively large country within
Europe. Poland has had a turbulent history, losing and regaining its
independence after the First and Second World wars. After the Second World War
Poland was a communist country having been ruled by the Soviet Union. However
for nearly twenty years it has been a republic and is now part of the European
Union.
Poland's population was severely impacted by the holocaust during the Second
World war, during the occupation of Nazi Germany. Additionally, many of Poland's
population fought for the allies and lost their lives. Now the population of
Poland is around 39 million, but there has been much movement in labour from
Poland in the last ten years with emmigrants leaving and setting up home in the
UK, Ireland and other EU countries.
The
climate in Poland is warm in the summer and cold in the winter, with winter
tending to be drier than in summer. In some parts of Poland the winters can
reach to below minus 15 degrees centigrade, and in summer other parts of the
country can reach as high as 39 degrees centigrade.
The
capital of Poland is Warsaw with around £1.25 million inhabitants. The economy
in Poland has been growing strongly for the last nearly twenty years when it
became a market economy in the late 1980's. With the free movement of labour
from Poland to other EU countries, the UK has been a popular destination, since
after Polish English is spoken widely by Polish people.
Since
the demise of communism and the move to be a free economic market, Poland has
seen the privatisation within the energy, transport, heavy industrial,
telecommunications and banking sectors. There has been a sharp rise in average
salaries, and former immigrants within the UK from Poland who have studied
within the UK and other EU countries, are now finding employment back home
within Poland at higher salaries than those they had previously left.
The
cost of housing, although having increased within the urban areas in Poland, are
still much lower on average than for example in the UK, and so returning
emmigrants are drawn back to their homeland by higher salaries and much lower
housing costs.
The
demand for flats and apartments in Poland appears to be booming, due to the
demand for long term lets in major towns and cities by students and young
professionals, but also due to the demand for prestige short and long term lets
by foreign investors coming to Poland to take advantage of its growing economy.
This is having a positive knock on effect on toursim, whereby visitors primarily
from other EU countries are sampling what Poland has to offer having been
influenced by economic dynamics which are reported in the media. The opening up
of the EU and the increase in movement across borders will ultimately mean
labour and tourist movement also, which in turn has an impact on the demand for
rental accommodation.
Old
town Krakow apartments are popular as they provide good value for money from £10
per person per night, but also allow the visitor to sample some Polish culture
at the same time as being smart and modern apartments. The medieval town square
is a popular tourist destination, and as such buy to let investors have seen the
value of their properties increase in some cases by over 50%.
However for the investor wishing to invest in property in Poland, Krakow may not
be the ideal place within Poland to invest as it is thought to be one of the
most difficult places to obtain building permissions, and therefore the investor
may wish to choose other areas within Poland. Warsaw is regarded as being a
strong city to invest in merely because it is Poland's capital, and with the
economy still on the rise the yield is likely to remain good. The area known as
Wilanow is regarded by many as a strong contender within Warsaw. Wilanow Palace
survived the wars and its baroque architecture from the 1600's has been home to
Kings and statesmen alike, and now is the backdrop for many summer concerts.
